This year has been such a busy one for me with travel and work and I am so happy to finally be able to sit down and blog some of the special moment’s I’ve captured; starting with Mr and Mrs Russell’s Rivervale Barn wedding which took place in May this year in Hampshire, UK.
Rivervale Barn is a gorgeous venue. Both it’s ceremony and reception areas have high ceilings and a light and airy feel – perfect for photographs – and it also has the most gorgeous gardens, perfect for your couple shoot.
After looking for a barn venue and only finding them in Devon and Cornwall, Jon and Katie discovered Rivervale and fell in love. They picked a beautiful time of year to wed, as in May all the flowers in the gardens are in bloom, giving them the most vibrant and gorgeous backdrop for their portraits.
Inside, Katie worked with the team from Rivervale to create décor with a rustic ‘secret garden’ feel to incorporate butterflies, which she loves – complete with ivy and candles hanging from the rafters. The couple settled on a aqua/turquoise and white colour pallet, keeping things bright and beautifully simple with gorgeous natural details.
Katie made a lot of the details herself with the help of Pinterest, Etsy and with some advice from her mum on the flowers. The couple also put their stamp on the wedding when they hired a mariachi band (!!!) as a surprise to kick off the party after the speeches.
I asked the couple to share any advice that other couples might find useful when planning their own wedding.
Katie’s top tip on planning: Enjoy every minute of the planning and make your wedding special to you and your partner by adding the little touches. They are one of the most important things, (even though they are often the things that take the most time), they make the wedding personal and our guests all noticed these.
Jon’s top tip on planning: Go with your heart in all decisions leading up to the wedding. Your heart is usually right.
