When travelling, I always think it’s important to explore. There are the places that all tourists go, and those are always beautiful and interesting but I feel that if you really want to get a feel for a place, you need to venture off the beaten track a little and find out where the locals go. So on one bright and sunny day in Cyprus, we jumped into the car with a mission to find somewhere nice for lunch.
You will find Pissouri Beach somewhere along the road from Paphos to Limassol. The beach is beautiful, a mix of sand and stones, littered with white umbrellas and overlooked by a hotel. It was great but it wasn’t what I was looking for… Pissouri Village however, was at the end of a very long, very winding road.
The drive up to the village took about 10-15 minutes, with views to die for all the way! It’s set on top of a hill, with a tiny church at it’s highest point – a place which really makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. It was the perfect place for lunch!
We found a restaurant, I ordered and then disappeared to take photos. It is a beautiful village. People were friendly and when the food came, it was delicious. To top it all off, I got some fantastic photos. All because I chose to explore… So next time you go on holiday, I’d love to encourage you to be adventurous and go a little off the beaten track.
