On Thursday last week I went for lunch at Oniro By The Sea in Paphos, Cyprus. To be honest, there are so many reasons to like this place… It’s family friendly, the staff are lovely, the décor is quirky, everything is blue and white (my favourite colours) but possibly it’s most unique asset is it’s view… Because right in front of the restaurant, in the shallow waves, is a shipwreck!
The Edro 111 is a 83m long freighter which ran aground in the Sea Caves area of Paphos during stormy weather on the 8th December 2011. The vessel was en route to Rhodes from Limassol when the bad weather and rough seas caused it to drift off course, where it ran into trouble and eventually drifted ashore near Peyia.
From what I am told, the initial plan had been to repair and re-float the ship but almost 4 years later, it is still sitting in the same spot, providing the Oniro By The Sea with a pretty fantastic view.
The restaurant itself is great, decorated in blue and white with loads of outdoor space. It’s child friendly and boasts a delicious food and drinks menu which includes non-alcoholic cocktails too, just in case you’re visiting Cyprus with little ones or are driving.
On the whole, it’s a pretty wonderful place to have lunch and I would definitely recommend paying them a visit.
How do I find info on weddings here please? X
Hi Nicola,
You will need to contact the venue directly. They are lovely. I think the best way to contact them is via Facebook. x
Is it possible to get married here?
