Today we’re continuing with our Wedding Planning & Photography series and  I am delighted to introduce you to Kate, from Kate Ruth Romey Stationery, who will be sharing her top tips on How to Choose Wedding Stationery.

Kate is passionate about designing unique and personal wedding stationery that reflects just what your wedding day is about. She works closely with her clients to ensure that the finished article is what they hoped it would be and more. As invitations will be your guests’ first glimpse of your big day they really should set the tone, therefore ‘off the peg’ designs just don’t cut it. As everything Kate designs is bespoke you can rest assured that your designs have never been and will never be used for another couple.

I recently got to work with some of Kate’s gorgeous designs whilst photographing a mini stationery shoot for Louise Beukes Styling, and fell completely in love with them! Flowers were provided by the talented Georgia of Westwood Design and the whole shoot was just full of all my favourite soft, pastel colours.

The design used in our shoot features an ombre watercolour effect to add a tactile nature. This was combined with a soft palette of aqua, blush pink, and touches of gold – through the envelope liner – to make the suite really special. A super clean, contemporary font, paired with accents of calligraphy gives a modern look with an elegant feel. The recurring theme of the ampersand, on the invitation and on the paper band brings in a fun element.

And Kate’s top tips on choosing your wedding stationery?

1. Think about what is most important to you and your wedding, and try not to get caught up in following trends or what other people are doing. Your Invitations or Save the Dates are your guests’ first taste of your wedding day, and so should a) speak about you as a couple, and b) set the tone for the day.
2. If you are thinking of investing in bespoke stationery, it’s really useful to tell your designer as much about yourselves and the plans for your day as possible, just a tiny element can create a spark that can act as the basis for the whole design – put your faith in your designer, their talent is to create something that is truly right for you.
3. Start thinking early about your invitations – in order to successfully achieve exactly what you want it’s worth starting on the designs in plenty of time.
