Bride wearing Laverne wedding dress by Catherine Deane and groom on a boat in Nidri | Maxeen Kim Photography

It was on a sunny day in early June that Erin and Stuart said, “I do” with an elegant floral inspired wedding on Lefkada. The couple chose this beautiful island in the Ionian Sea after spending many holidays together at Erin’s gorgeous family villa. It also happens to be the island where Stuart ‘popped the question’, so it holds such a special place in their hearts.

The bride and her girls spent a relaxed morning getting ready in her family’s villa. She then made the 10 minute walk, together with her immediate family and bridesmaids, to her ceremony at Seaside Restaurant. Erin decided to incorporate the lovely tradition of being serenaded to the ceremony, with a trio of Greek musicians which really set the tone for their day; relaxed, chic and just a little bit different.

They kept their ceremony decor simple yet stylish, wanting their guests to be able to really appreciate the beauty of their surroundings. The ceremony itself was carried out by a close friend of the family, Pauline, who lives on the island. This gave the day such a touching and personal feel, and the words, “You may now kiss the bride” were met with great applause.

After the ceremony the couple treated their guests to a cocktail and canape cruise, where they got to enjoy incredible views, live music and dancing. One of the highlights of the cruise was definitely when the grooms nephew decided to give the crowd a lesson in ‘flossing’.

The wedding party returned to a transformed venue, thanks to talented planner, Claire Salisbury and her team at Lefkas Weddings. Claire incorporated an air of elegance with tall candles, cut glass vases and rose gold cutlery, while adding pops of colour through flowers, floral place-mats and the little bottles of lemon cello each guest received as a favour.

Before making their big entrance to the reception area, the couple took a few quiet moments for themselves and some photos. As Erin’s family villa looks out over the bay, it was important for the beautiful blue waters and the hills of Lefkada to feature in their images.

The reception was filled with laughter, speeches and happy tears. The couples’ delicious menu was created especially for them by Kostas, owner of Seaside, together with his head chef. There was eating, drinking and a lot of merriment.

The dance floor was opened with Erin and Stuart’s first dance. Later, when there was a lull on the dance floor, Stuart surprised his bride (and everyone else!) with her own personal strip tease – he didn’t take everything off, don’t worry. As you can imagine, this was a crowd pleaser! The evening ended on a high when Stuart and his brother reenacted the iconic final dance sequence from Dirty Dancing – complete with the lift! – with a kind of grace and style you wouldn’t have expected from 2 Welsh rugby players.

To Erin and Stuart, it was such an honour getting to know you, those close to your hearts and to capture your day. You are both such wonderful people and I look forward to seeing you on Lefkada in the future.
