Fort Altena is a 19th-century fort in Werkendam, in the province of North Brabant, The Netherlands. It was originally built as part of the Dutch water line defense system. However it is now open to the public as a historic site with a brasserie, as well as offering vaulted events spaces for private hire. A Fort Altena wedding is perfect for the couple wanting a beautiful venue with a twist.
Rianne and Daniel are high school sweethearts and have been together for 14 years. After Daniel planned a surprise proposal on a weekend away, the couple decided to tie the knot at Fort Altena.
They threw the ‘traditional’ wedding rule book out the window, opting for a first look. The couple also decided on an evening ceremony, with dinner before saying ‘I do’. This ensured that all their guests could be a part of the ceremony.
The alternative timeline also meant that Rianne could enjoy a stress-free morning at home before getting ready. Even though the weather was a little overcast with rainy showers, nothing could dampen Daniel and Rianne’s spirits.
They started their day together with an emotional first look in a field near their home. Making their arrival at the venue in a beautiful black Porsche. The atmosphere remained on a high note all the way through their celebrations at Fort Altena as they danced the night away.
