I met Charlea when I first arrived in Cyprus as she is baby sitter to the 2 little munchkins I’m currently staying with. We got talking and she mentioned that she wanted some portraits done in the dress she would be wearing to her prom.
We planned a beautiful evening shoot on the beach, to make the most of golden hour, just before she left for her party. The day had been hot and the sun had been beating down beautifully… Beautifully that is, right up until about an hour before I was supposed to meet Charlea!
I arrived at Corallia Beach to a cloudy sky. Admittedly the clouds helped to diffuse the light but it unfortunately wasn’t what I’d planned… Charlea looked gorgeous though and we made the most of the beautiful beach and the rocky harbour area. If you are ever in Cyprus and looking for a location for a shoot, Corallia Beach is definitely worth putting on your list of possibilities. Whether you want a beachy backdrop, a rocky one with a thousand miles of sea behind you or if you are happy to pose between the parasols and palm trees, this beach has it all.
I shot for about 45 minutes and on our walk back to the car, the sun finally broke through the clouds and I was blessed with literally seconds of beautiful golden light – just enough for a couple of quick shots. Oh and they were magic! It just goes to show, sometimes you should just shoot anyway as you never know what may happen.
