There are so many reasons I love my job. But two of the main reasons have got to be the amazing couples I meet and the beautiful places they take me to. A perfect example of such a couple would be Iole and Umberto, whose Italian olive grove engagement took place in September last year.
I flew out to Italy with my talented friend, Roberta Facchini, to work on the couple’s wedding and engagement. I had been to Italy before, but going to Italy with an Italian was something I found really exciting. It was beautiful, warm and filled with sunshine. Perfect for photos! (And ice cream, and road trips, and singing at the top of your lungs – but that’s a different blog post entirely.)
After getting to know the couple and how they met a little better, it was clear that the olive grove where they first met had to feature in their engagement shoot. Iole’s family own the olive company in Chieuti and the couple met when Umberto came to buy olives.
However, we decided to start things by exploring the grooms home town, Serracapriola. A medieval village, complete with a crumbling castle, just a few miles from where the couple now live.
The light as we wandered the little winding streets of Umberto’s village, and later in between the olive trees, was both warm and luminous. Wrapping itself around the couple with a magical glow. This is why you get married in Europe… because these beautiful places engulf you in their magic… And it’s a pretty special way to start your married life together.
If you’re considering having your own destination wedding, I would be delighted to be considered as your destination wedding photographer. And why not make the most of your wedding location with a destination engagement shoot? It’s the perfect way to document the last few days before you become Mr & Mrs. Get in touch if you would like to know more.
